(Professional Association of Quebec Private Investigators)
Montreal, February 8 2017
It is with great pride and pleasure that I accept to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Executive Chairman of APEPQ. I am confident that I will be able to face and take on the challenges of private security, and be loyal to both our members and the citizens we need to protect.
The year 2017 will focus on development, in regards to the publication of the research report of the Federal Ministry of Public Security: The Use of Private Security Services to Ensure Law and Order. This comprehensive study of the state of our industry in Canada focuses on the key issues of partnership with public services and resistance factors, such as the lack of confidence from law enforcement agencies and training.
Our industry is undergoing changes. It’s essential to adapt and actively participate in the evolution of our sector in the most inclusive way possible, recognizing the contribution of the various players in the field.
Amongst my future projects, I plan to set up a continuing education committee to continue our training, and to go beyond what has been achieved.
I also plan to implement a legal watch team to follow, collect and someday influence future legislative changes, for example, the new Quebec Code of Civil Procedure, which can have an impact on our industry.
We must have effective tools to intervene in these debates and to showcase the contribution of our industry to the Quebec society. The support of all will be necessary in order to increase the visibility of our association and continue the recruitment of new members in order to maintain our representativeness. We will certainly have an opportunity to discuss it at our next meetings.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
Chairman of the Executive Committee
